I have Netscape for my browser, How do I setup Extreme Internet?
The Extreme Internet Accelerator client works quite well with most major browsers (minimum: Internet Explorer 5.0, Netscape 4.7, Mozilla, AOL 7.0 & Opera). If you are using Internet Explorer for your default browser, you will not have to tweak any browser settings at all. The Extreme Internet install program calls a "hook" to let Internet Explorer know that there is a local proxy being used and will set IE accordingly. This document will talk about setting up Netscape properly to work with the Extreme Internet Client.
This screenshot (the last dialog box of installation of the Extreme Internet client) illustrates that it has detected that Netscape is the default browser, and is alerting the you that you will need to setup a local proxy in the browser preferences to make Extreme Internet work.
Click on OK, and open Netscape.
Netscape is now open. You will need to click on Edit and then Preferences to change the proxy setting.

You will now need to click on the + by Advanced, you will then be able to see the proxy setup options. The default here should be "Direct connection to the Internet." We need to change this to "Manual proxy configuration," then click on View.

Now you will want to setup an HTTP proxy, as that is the only protocol at this time that Extreme Internet will accelerate (SMTP/POP support is coming in the next couple months). In the white box next to HTTP: type localhost. Then in the white box next to it under Port enter 8080.
Click on Ok twice. Extreme Internet will now be accelerating the your surfing experience, try it by going to a web site.
